Here is one sure fire way to cut costs and still get the look you are going for. If you are anything like me you have been dreaming of your big day since you can remember! It is only natural that you want everything to be absolutely perfect. However, you may not have imagined your dream wedding with a budget in mind and when we get down to the nitty gritty you can see that weddings can be EXTREMLEY expensive. It is important that you allocate your money to the right things and cut costs where you can.
Flowers are something that every wedding needs; they create the atmosphere of romance and make a plain room glamorous. They are a necessity; there is no way around it. That being said they also can take up a decent part of your budget. Generally wedding planners usually allocate 8% to 10% of the wedding budget to the flowers.
There are many things to think about when shopping for flowers and there are many different details that can really jack up the price. If you are looking to get fresh flowers look out, you must be very mindful of many different details if you are trying to save money. The price generally goes up by what type of flower you choose (in season or out of season), what color (more exotic shades can be costly), arrangement size, what time of year you are ordering them (prices go up during mother’s day, valentine’s day etc), arrangement detail (the price per piece goes up by how many flowers you use), rush fees and set up and delivery.
As you can see there are a lot of things to consider when going with real flowers. But don’t fret…..there is a solution to getting what you want at a reasonable price. And it’s becoming more and more popular in the wedding planner arena, they’re silk floral arrangements.
There are many advantages to using silk flower arrangements. The biggest advantage, in my opinion, is that they are super cost efficient. They generally cost less than regular flowers. The thing that I think is great about silk flowers is that you can get a flower that is generally out of season and pay no more than what you normally pay. If you are one of those brides that have expensive taste…like me… this is an awesome option for you because you can still get the look you are going for without the high prices. Another way to save money is by buying a minimal amount of arrangements and floral centerpieces and having them transferred from the ceremony location to the reception location. I think that another plus to having silk flowers for your wedding is that you get to keep some of them for memories or you can even reuse them or sell them if you wanted to, it’s all up to you!
Some other advantages include 1. They are travel safe. If you are planning on having a destination wedding, silk flowers are a great way to go. You don’t have to worry about them getting damaged on the journey. 2. They won’t die or wilt. If you are having your wedding in a very hot or very cold location, you may want to consider artificial flowers because the temperature will have some effect on real flowers. 3. You can make your own arrangements or buy them pre-arranged, it’s up to you and you can start playing with the arrangements way in advance because they won’t be dying anytime soon. 4. If some key members in your wedding are allergic to flowers it may be a good idea to go with the fake flowers to avoid a break out or excessive sneezing during your ceremony.
